Daimler’s diesel performance testing has been under scrutiny for a number of years, including a major recall of nearly 20 million vehicles in 2015.
That prompted Volkswagen to recall some 4.3 million cars worldwide last year and the company has yet to publicly announce a recall for the C-Class diesel.
But now, Daimlers is reporting that some of its diesel engines are performing better than before the recalls.
That could mean that the company’s diesel models may still be underperforming compared to the older models.
The results, obtained by The Associated Press, are based on Daimels latest diesel performance test, which is based on a new fuel-economy system.
The test involves a car’s braking and throttle response.
It’s a more accurate way of determining performance than a driver can get from a normal engine test.
It also includes a “safety” feature that alerts drivers if a vehicle’s engine is not functioning properly.
In the new test, Dams test driver, a man in his 40s, had his car tested with the new diesel system.
It was equipped with a new ECU and software to measure how well its turbochargers, transmission and air conditioning work.
The results of that test are not yet available.
The new system also includes new safety measures that prevent the car from driving recklessly, and it’s designed to improve performance by allowing the turbocharger to work faster.
The company says it will also introduce the DaimELS new C-Series Diesel in 2018, which has more performance, better fuel economy and a longer range.
It’s unclear when the D-Class will be available for purchase.
