AMD Ryzen chips will start hitting the market next week in the United States.
The first Ryzen processors to hit the US market are expected to be released on September 12, with more chips expected to follow later this year.AMD Ryzen chips feature two of the new, high-performance cores that will be featured in the new flagship chip, codenamed ‘Zen’.
Intel’s Core i7-7700K processor, for example, has two eight-core chips, which are called a quad-core and six-core processor.AMD’s new Ryzen chips also feature the first eight-thread CPUs, called ‘Threads’.
The new Ryzen processors use eight threads to achieve the best performance out of the chips, but AMD’s Threads will feature a clock speed of 4.7GHz instead of 4GHz.AMD says that Threads is able to outperform the 8-core Ryzen chips, due to the increased performance that Thread will deliver.
Threads will be available on the first batch of Ryzen chips in the coming weeks, but the chip’s launch date is yet to be announced.
The Ryzen chips launched today will be priced at $499.99, with the Ryzen 7 1800X and Ryzen 7 1700X priced at a similar price point.
AMD has also released its Ryzen 7 desktop CPUs, priced at just $349.99.
